Fall 2011 Short Story and Nonfiction Competition for New Writers

Special Announcement: Per Rule 8 below, Readers for Writers 
has decided to extend this competition to January 15, 2012 with 
results to be announced on February 15.

Competition Rules:

1. First prize consists of a cash award of $500. First, second and third prizes will receive award certificates, and their work published on theReaders for Writers website, as well as additional sites including 88keys.

2. Entries accepted beginning on August 15 through midnight on October 15, 2011.

3. Entries must be submitted via email (to competition@readersforwriters.org) as an attachment in Microsoft Word format, not longer than 7500 words.

4. Authors will retain all copyrights in submitted works other than first serial publication rights for prizewinners (allowing for publication on the Readers for Writers and associated websites, with all other rights reserved to the author).

5. Authors must be writers without commercial publication credits.

6. There is no reading or entry fee associated with this competition.

7. Winners will be announced on November 15, 2011.

8. If the number or quality of the entries received is insufficient, our review panel may extend, modify or cancel the competition.
